How to make witch

1.

To dye cheesecloth black: Follow package instructions and dye 3 yards of cheesecloth. Allow to dry flat on towel. Note: it is not necessary to pre wash cheesecloth. When dyeing cheesecloth, keep it folded as it comes out of the package.

2.

To use fabric stiffener: Cover work area with plastic wrap, Pour fabric stiffener in bowl. Cut cheesecloth as indicated for each step. Place cheesecloth in bowl and saturate completely. Squeeze to remove excess stiffener.

3.

For body: Treat yard of cheesecloth with stiffener. Do not unfold. (There will be four layers.) Center cheesecloth over top of egg. Wrap cheesecloth around egg and cone, overlapping at sides to cover entire cone. (Figure B)

4.

For dress: Treat 1 yard of cheesecloth with stiffener. Unfold once.(There will be four layers.) Center cheesecloth over top of form and smooth cheesecloth over head. Place rubber band loosely around neck. Drape remaining cheesecloth over arms. Arrange cheesecloth loosely around base in puddles. Allow to dry. Remove rubber band from neck.

5.

For hands and face: Using tissue paper, trace and cut out hand and face patterns. Place patterns on felt and cut 2 hands and 1 face. Hot glue hands to end of chenille stems and face to front of head.

6.

For cape: Treat 1 yard of cheesecloth with stiffener. Unfold once (There will be two layers). Place cheesecloth around witch draping over arms. Allow to dry.

7.

For hair: Hot glue pieces of wool doll hair to top of witch's head so hair falls over shoulders.

8. For hat: Draw a 5" circle on tissue paper, cut in half. Using half circle pattern, cut shape from black felt. To form cone of hat, overlap ends of half circle 1"; glue. Draw a 4" circle on tissue paper, then draw a 2" circle in center of 4" circle. Divide the 2" circle into 8 pieces (like a pie). Pin pattern to black felt. Cut out 4" circle and along 'pie' lines, without cutting away any felt. Apply glue to 'pie' triangles. Position wide end of cone over triangles (glue side). Push triangles into cone and attach to sides. Cut ribbon to form hat band; hot glue to hat. Glue hat to witch’s head.
